Introduction
The blackberry, from the Moraceae family. It belongs to a group of fruits, originally wild called forest fruits, berry fruits, and in English "berries". It is a small fruit, round or slightly oval, made up of small drupes. Its color, as well as its size – which ranges between 1.5 and 2 cm. – varies in hue depending on its variety, being able to be bright black, or red depending on the same. The flavor of blackberry is very pleasant and sweet. Thanks to off-season imports, we can find blackberries all year round in specialized establishments.
Origin
The blackberry has its origin in Persia. Apart from being a native wild shrub in many of the Mediterranean countries, currently, the main producing countries are: England, Argentina and Chile.
Properties
The blackberry has a very high content of vitamins, especially complexes C and A. It also contains sugars, and the high calcium content in the blackberry stands out.
Consumption
The blackberry is consumed fresh and this is where its flavor is best enjoyed. It is also used for refined desserts and jams, or directly with yogurt.
Conservation
Blackberries keep in the fridge for a few days. Its rapid consumption after harvest is recommended, given the fragility of the product.
