Introduction
Belonging to the grass family, sugar cane is the most important source of sugar. The plant is formed from the bud shoots of one or several internodes. From each bud comes a primary shoot or solid central stem, from which secondary stems sprout and from these other tertiary ones forming a cluster.
Origin
Most tropical grasslands are native to the African regions located between the Equator and the Tropic of Capricorn. The travelers of the time and especially the slavers spread the crop to tropical America and from there it passed to East Asia and Australia.
Properties
From its pressing and subsequent refining, sugar is extracted, a usual source of energy. The tender leaves tea is refreshing and diuretic.
Consumption
Its consumption can be done by simply chewing it, or by pressing it in order to obtain its sweet and nutritional juice.
Conservation
Store in a cool, dry place.
