Introduction
The lychee, from the sapindaceae family, is an exotic oval-shaped fruit, about 4 cm in diameter. This fruit is red to pink in color and has an easy-to-remove skin. The interior contains a fleshy mass that completely covers the seed. Its white and transparent pulp, similar to that of grapes, is very juicy and sweet. Among other characteristics, the lychee is highly appreciated for the exquisite flavor of its pulp and its delicious aroma.
Origin
The lychee originates from southern China. There is evidence of its existence for more than 2000 years. It is currently cultivated in the areas of subtropical China, northern India, South Africa, the Reunion Islands and Madagascar.
Properties
Lychee is very rich in vitamins B and C, protein, fiber, and carbohydrates. It is highly recommended for a balanced and healthy diet.
Consumption
The main consumption and the best way to enjoy the taste of lychee is to eat it raw. It also goes perfectly with fish and rice dishes, and aromatic sauces. For desserts it is also ideal in fruit salads to which it will give a guaranteed tropical touch.
Conservation
The lychees are kept in perfect conditions in the refrigerator.
