Introduction
From the solanaceae family, it has an appearance reminiscent of the tomato. Its shape is ovoid and it has a diameter between 4 and 6 cm. Its outer shell is orange while its interior is divided into four compartments separated by membranes that contain a yellowish pulp with a proliferation of small seeds.
Origin
The first varieties are believed to have been cultivated in Ecuador, Colombia and Peru. It is currently grown in South America, mainly in Ecuador, where it is highly appreciated.
Properties
It contains a significant amount of calcium, vitamin C, phosphorus and protein. It also has other minerals such as iron, sodium, and to a lesser extent fiber and fat.
Its consumption is an important source of vitamin A and phosphorus, which contributes to strengthening bones, nails and hair.
Consumption
There are different ways to consume Lulo, from enjoying it directly with a teaspoon after cutting it in half, or in juice, juice, or ice cream.
